The Ascend II comes with Android’s most popular OS, Gingerbread 2.3, and features a 600MHz processor running the show. It also comes pre-installed with Facebook and Twitter for all the social media addicts out there and don’t worry, even though the processor is 600 MHz, it can do the job and multitask like a champ.

The camera is 5-megapixels, which is nice considering most cell phone cameras at this price level are not so generous and one of the standout features for the Ascend II (and most Android phones) is that it comes with expandable memory.

Since the phone has an SD card slot, you can add up to 32 gigs of memory so you are not limited by the phones memory capabilities (although you will probably get at least a 2 GIG card with purchase) but it can easily be switched out for a bigger SD card. The phone also has GPS, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi to complete anyone’s checklist for everything needed in a smart pho

The Ascend II is also an attractive looking phone.  The screen is a 3.5-inch LCD display and while it is not as brilliant as the Galaxy S Showcase, it is a perfect size to watch YouTube and Facebook videos.

The Ascend II weighs a little over 4 ounces and fits snug in your hand and the soft rubbery feel is perfect to use the standard Android 4-button layout. Texting and writing emails is easy with the default Android keyboard (we always suggest getting the Swype keyboard).  The keyboard is responsive and suggests corrections for any typo you might have. The great thing about Android is that if you don’t like the keyboard, there are plenty of third-party keyboards you can try, many of them being free. The Ascend II has a great keyboard, but it’s good to know that this is another customizable feature on your smartphone.

The Huawei Ascend II is available from Straight Talk wireless for a low cost of only $99.99 and the monthly unlimited plan is $45 a month with no contracts or credit checks.  This smartphone is a hands down great deal from any angle.  You get all the features of an Android for a very reasonable price.

We loved the look and feel and while we are used to faster processors, we were not disappointed working with the Huawei Ascend from Straight Talk.
